Testing FAQ

What is Read to Achieve?

The Read to Achieve program was established by the NC General Assembly, in July of 2012. It is a law that dictates that if a third grade student is not reading at grade level by the end of the third grade year, they will have to repeat 3rd Grade or attend a free, reading camp. More information >>

How do I know if my child "passed" the EOG?

This website gives the minimum score for each grade level:

How will I know if my child qualifies for AIG?

Identification for the Academically/Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Program begins in the spring of second grade. The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is administered in May to all second grade scholars.

Scholars who score in the 97th percentile or above qualify for AIG and begin services in third grade. Scholars with CogAT scores of 90% - 96%  will be administered the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) Reading and/or Math subtest. A minimum of 95% on the either subtest, in conjunction with the CogAT, will qualify him/her for AIG services.

Students new to Socrates Academy may be tested based on academic records from their previous grade or school.
