Dear Diary,

There is rarely a dull moment at Socrates Academy! I spent a lot of time in classrooms this week and here are some of the wonderful things I got to see:

I was so impressed with all of the lessons I watched and enjoyed listening top students ask questions and use evidence from the text to support their ideas. We have a talented group of students here at Socrates!

It was also Teacher Appreciation Week and the PFI organized wonderful treats for all of our staff. They are so generous and made sure our staff felt special. There were flowers, treats, and nice notes passed all around campus. It made me really proud to be a part of Socrates.

On Friday afternoon, we had a pep rally to kick off Read A Thon. Read A Thon is a huge fundraiser for Socrates and last year, we raised $45,000!!!!! That money has helped to purchase books for classroom libraries, novels for the middle school, science materials, and PE equipment, and to renovate our elementary library and expand our middle school selection. We are also working on some playground modifications and upgrades to make our play space even better for our scholars. At the pep rally, Miss Priganc and Mr. R got the elementary students pumped up and showed them the prizes they can earn for reading and getting sponsors. The cheerleaders had some great cheers about Read A Thon, and Offbeat performed. It was so much fun and I hope the students work hard to help raise money for the school. I can’t wait to start my own reading this weekend!
