TITLE I

Welcome to Socrates Academy Charter School, where we proudly operate as a Title I institution. Title I plays a crucial role in providing financial support to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools, like ours, to ensure that all students have the opportunity to meet rigorous state academic standards. Our eligibility for Title I funding is determined through a process called direct certification, which allows us to receive federal assistance annually.

At the start of each academic year, in compliance with Title I requirements, we inform parents of students attending our school about their rights regarding teacher qualifications and student services. Parents have the right to request information regarding:

  • Whether teachers meet the state qualifications for the grade levels and subjects they teach.

  • Whether any teachers are working under waivers or emergency status.

  • The educational background of teachers, including their degree majors and any additional certifications or degrees.

  • Details about paraprofessionals providing services to students, including their qualifications.

Furthermore, we provide parents with information about their child's performance on state assessments and promptly notify them if their child is taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not considered highly qualified.

For more detailed information about Title I and its impact on our school community, or to exercise your parental rights under Title I, please reach out to Director of Operations, Janice Soucey, jsoucey@socratesacademy.us
